What is Helipad?
A helipad is a landing area and platform where helicopters, and powered lift aircraft are land. A fabricated helipad provides a clearly marked hard surface away from obstacles where such aircraft can land safely, and helicopters are able to operate on a relatively flat helipad surfaces. Helipad is made so that no mistake of any kind happens in the landing of helicopter. In today's technical world, everything has become easy and clear now.
Construction of Helipad:-
Helipads are ordinarily constructed from concrete and are marked with letter H or circle, easy to be visible from the air. Helipads are not constantly constructed of concrete; occasionally a temporary helipad will be built outside the forest to receive supply in remote areas to the wild fire fighters. Rig mats can be used to make helipads. Landing pads can also be made in extreme conditions on ice.
Different types of Helipad:-
- Private - Known as Prior Permission Required PPR facilities are just that, privately owned and operated.
- Transport Facilities - Are publicly owned or controlled and are designed for accommodating larger helicopters and aircraft.
- Medical emergency, Emergency evacuation facilities, and temporary facilities.
